Tips for Enjoying Pride Events

Going to your first pride event can be fun and intimidating. It is easy to get overwhelmed with everything and be unsure of how to best enjoy it.
We have a few tips for enjoying a Florida Pride event:
- Make hydration a priority. – Many pride events will be held in June. Florida heat can make you more dehydrated. Bring drinks and cash to get drinks if needed while at the event.
- Bring a bag. – At Pride, you can meet with various organizations and businesses that support the LGBTQ+ community. A lot of booths give out items and you will need a bag to carry them in.
- Research the event before you go. – Spend some time on their website and social media learning about the event. Different events will have different approaches to Pride.
Additional Florida Pride Guide Tips

- Bring cash. – There are some incredible vendors at these events. Bring cash to make it easy to purchase food or a favorite piece of clothing at the event.
- Check the event schedule. – Some events will have multi-day events focused on different ages or parts of the community. It can help to spend time learning about the event schedule and selecting the events that will best fit you.
- Wear sunscreen. Going to Pride events during the Florida heat can be fun but it will expose you to the summer sun. Wear sunscreen to avoid bringing home a sunburn as a souvenir.
- Check the local weather. Florida’s weather can be very unpredictable. If the weather looks problematic, check the individual websites or Facebook pages to confirm the event is still happening.
