5K run events are a perfect way to exercise while having fun. Often, these events support great causes, too.
We have found some great, unique 5Ks to participate throughout the year in Florida.
From cool themes like pirates and rock-and-roll to scenic locations (think state parks and moonlit golf courses), there are some excellent options.
Upcoming races are almost always open to a variety of skill levels.
Many 5Ks in Florida allow participants to walk at their own pace (that’s more our speed!).
They are also a great way to explore a destination in Florida and meet the locals.

Best Damn Race – Safety Harbor

Sombrero Beach Run – Marathon

Location: Sombrero Beach – 2130 Sombrero Beach Rd, Marathon, FL 33050
Information: The 19th Annual Sombrero Beach Run, hosted by the Key West Southernmost Runners Club, is recognized as the premier running event in the Florida Keys.
This event features both a 10K race, starting at 8 AM, and a 5K Walk/Run beginning at 9:15 AM on Saturday.
Participants can enjoy a range of activities, including a Registration Pizza party on Friday evening, live entertainment, a runner’s breakfast, and an after-race lunch at the scenic Sombrero Beach.
Additionally, prizes will be awarded to the top three overall winners, as well as in various age categories, and free parking will be available at the beach until noon on Saturday.

Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic – Tampa

Information: The Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic Race Weekend features four race distances:
- PGDC 15K
- PGDC 5K
- Publix Gasparilla Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Publix Gasparilla 8K
- Participants can choose from the Michelob Ultra Challenge, the Michelob Ultra Pure Gold Challenge, the Michelob Ultra Infusion Challenge, and the Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer Challenge.
Runners will enjoy a flat and fast out-and-back course that showcases the beautiful Bayshore Boulevard.

3K Raptor Run – St. Augustine

Information: It’s time to run or walk to help save native wildlife species in Florida.
All proceeds from this all-ages race will benefit a conservation organization.
All participants receive a t-shirt, medal, post-race refreshments, and a free child’s admission to the Alligator Farm for each adult ticket purchase.

Lake Wales Mardi Gras 5K Glow Run

Information: Don your most festive attire while racing around the scenic path surrounding Lake Wailes.
Attendees enjoy a lively celebration at Lake Wailes Park, featuring food, entertainment, and a post-race party, all in support of local charities.

Ichetucknee Springs 5K Trail Run

Largo Shamrock ‘n Run

Bunny Hop 5K – DeBary

Run for the Trees 5k – Winter Park

Information: Join the City of Winter Park and Track Shack for the annual Run for the Trees 5k, presented by the Center for Health and Wellbeing.

The scenic 5K course takes participants through Anastasia State Park and nearby neighborhoods.
This race is family-friendly and dog-friendly. Runners, walkers, and strollers are all encouraged to join in on the fun.
Once participants arrive at the finish line, they are right in the middle of the Taste of St. Augustine, a popular annual food event that they receive free admission to.
Proceeds from this event benefit EPIC Behavioral Healthcare, an organization that supports long-term recovery for people dealing with addiction and mental health disorders.

Race For The Cupcake 5K – St. Pete Beach

‘Walk the Plank’ Family 5K – Palm Coast

Information: ‘Walk the Plank’ Family 5K is a pirate-themed, family-friendly race in Palm Coast. Pirate attire is encouraged.
On race day, participants walk seven laps around the path to complete the 5K. With each lap, they earn pirate’s booty to mark their progress.
Race medals and race t-shirts are available on a first come basis to registered participants. There are different age groups for registration.
This event’s proceeds benefit the Matanzas High School Band program.

7 Mile Bridge Run – Marathon, Florida Keys

Location: 7 Mile Bridge
Information: The 45th Annual 7-Mile Bridge Run is known as a highly competitive, 6.8-mile race with only 1,500 spots.
Registration is online-only via RunSignup. The event requires a photo ID for packet pickup.
Key details for the 2026 event:
- Registration: Opens Jan 27, 2026, at 6am EST, with early registration for Monroe County residents on Jan 22, 2026.
- Capacity: Strictly limited to 1,500, often selling out in under 15 minutes.
- Logistics: The bridge closes at 6am; participants must use the provided shuttles from 1 Knights Key Blvd (4am – 5:30am).
- Packet Pickup: Friday, April 10, 2026, 12–8pm at Marathon Community Park.
The race spans the “new” 7-mile bridge, offering a unique, scenic experience entirely over water.
